Do I need to bring an adapter for my electronics?

If you are coming from the USA or Canada, no — outlets in Colombia are the same: 110V 60Hz. If you are coming from Europe (220V), you'll need an adapter to use your electronics.

Can I drink the tap water in Colombia?

Major Colombian cities have excellent running water and tap water is generally drinkable. We still advise guests to use bottled water (most properties keep it stocked).

How much should a taxi cost from the airport?

For the Old City, COP 10,000–15,000. For Bocagrande, Castillo Grande or Manga, COP 12,000–18,000. We also offer pre-arranged private transfers from $30.

What's the deal with the toilet paper?

Cartagena's plumbing is older than the city's tourism boom. Most bathrooms ask guests not to flush paper but to use the waste bin instead. It feels strange for a day, then becomes habit.

Where should I exchange money?

On arrival you can exchange at the airport or at local banks, but we recommend withdrawing Colombian pesos at a secure local ATM with your debit card — ATMs typically give the best rate.

Is Cartagena safe?

Yes. The vast majority of visitors spend their time in the Walled City, Getsemani, Manga, Bocagrande, Castillogrande and La Boquilla — all of which feel safe day and night. There is a visible police presence in Centro and Getsemani that may surprise you initially. Use common sense as you would in any major city.

Can a bachelor or bachelorette party book a house?

Yes. We have many properties that work for bachelor/bachelorette groups. Tell us ahead of time and we'll help plan the trip end to end (boats, dinners, clubs, transfers).

What's your cancellation policy?

50% deposit is required to confirm and is non-refundable. Cancellations made 14+ days before check-in are refunded everything paid beyond the 50% deposit. No refunds inside 14 days. Full terms on the policies page.

What's included with a mansion booking?

Every mansion includes a full team: butler, chef cooking two meals a day, daily housekeeping, overnight security. Smaller villas include daily cleaning. Airport transfers, boat days, day trips and reservation help are arranged separately at additional cost.
